One day National Seminar on “Economics of Agroforestry: Challenges and Opportunities for Sustainable and Equitable Agricultural Development” was organized by the Department of Economics, Jubilee Memorial College, Mokokchung, Nagaland, in collaboration with the State Agricultural Research Station (SARS), Yisemyong, under the Department of Agriculture, Government of Nagaland, on 24th October 2025.
The seminar aimed to explore the economic dimensions of agroforestry and discuss its role in promoting sustainable and equitable agricultural development.
The inaugural session, chaired by Dr. Chubaienla Imchen, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Economics, Jubilee Memorial College, began with a prelude by JMC Choir, followed by welcome remarks from Dr. Imtiwati Jamir, Principal of the College. The Inaugural Speech was delivered by Prof. Jagadish K. Patnaik, Vice Chancellor, Nagaland University, Lumami. The Keynote Address was presented by Prof. Dwipendra Thakuria, Dean, College of PG Studies in Agricultural Sciences, Central Agricultural University (Imphal), Umiam, Meghalaya.
Following the inaugural session, 3 technical sessions were held parallel at different rooms within the college.
The valedictory session, held in the College Hall, was chaired by Dr. L. Merensangla, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology, Jubilee Memorial College. The Valedictory address was delivered by Mr. I. Lipokonen Jamir, Joint Director, State Agricultural Research Station, Yisemyong, Nagaland. The seminar concluded with the Best Paper Award, Report of the Seminar, and a Vote of Thanks by Mr. Mulato Keny, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, Jubilee Memorial College, and the Organizing Secretary.
The one- day seminar provided an enriching platform for academicians, researchers, and students to exchange ideas, share research findings, and discuss the future prospects of agroforestry as a sustainable agricultural practice.
