A special awareness program on Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (Save the Daughter, Educate the Daughter) was conducted at JMC with the aim of promoting gender equality and the importance of girls’ education, addressing gender discrimination and improving female literacy rates. The event featured two resource persons, Miss Aien and Miss Naro, Program coordinators of Social Welfare, Government of Nagaland, who shared their insights on the significance of empowering girls through education and societal support.
The resource persons elaborated on the challenges faced by girls in accessing education and the role of communities in ensuring a safe and supportive environment for them. They emphasized on the need for changing societal mindsets, advocating for equal opportunities, and discouraging gender discrimimation, which often hinders girls’ education. They also highlighted government initiatives under the scheme and how families can benefit from educational and financial support programs.
The interactive session allowed participants to share their thoughts and experiences, making the discussion more engaging. The program concluded with a pledge to support girls’ education and work towards gender equality in all spheres of life. Sanitary pads were also distributed to all the girl participants.
